A very dangerous item was found at a children’s playground in North Little Rock.
During a recent North Little Rock City Council meeting, Jon and Jaeda Oliver revealed a very disturbing discovery at Laman Plaza Playground: a used needle near the play area. The issue has become so bad that now mostly adults are seen loitering at the park now as the area becomes too unsafe.
Health Risks Reported At Little Rock Playground
The presence of a discarded needle, capable of transmitting serious diseases like HIV and Hepatitis, raised alarms about the park’s safety for children.
Mayor Terry Hartwick, upon hearing of the incident, was visibly shocked and committed to addressing the issue promptly. He said that he would get involved. He was also visibly upset.
The disturbing incident has led the city to have patrols start monitoring the park. Park Rangers will be tasked with making sure this doesn’t happen again. North Little Rock Community Center staff will also be watching now.
The Olivers, who are reportedly regular visitors to the park, have since felt uncomfortable and have been avoiding the area due to the incident.
Mayor Hartwick personally followed up with the Olivers, emphasizing the city’s commitment to ensuring park safety. The park, designed inclusively for all children, now faces closer scrutiny to maintain its intended safe environment.
