The Arkansas economy looks poised for growth.
In a recent interview, Steve Goode, executive director of the Arkansas Grocers & Retail Merchants Association, revealed that Arkansas tax collections are increasing and metro areas are taking action to increase hirings. This comes as Governor Sarah Sanders recently announced a new energy company bringing 100 jobs to Arkansas.
Hirings, No Cutbacks
Steve Goode says the economy is getting stronger. He gave a number of reasons why:
- Arkansas has seen a 1.8% increase in sales tax collections, totaling $3.48 billion.
- Populations have grown in northwest, northeast, and central regions.
- The state’s major metro areas, including Little Rock and Bentonville, have experienced significant job growth, with a combined increase of 27,923 jobs, more than double the growth in other parts of Arkansas.
In fact, there’s actually a labor shortage concern for retailers. Not enough people to fill jobs.
Meanwhile, retail crime is reportedly leading to businesses losing revenue due to crime. Which is why Arkansas Grocers & Retail Merchants Association is hosting an event to discuss ways to penalize criminals who shoplift.
Sarah Sanders Celebrates Expansion Of Energy Company For 100 New Jobs
Last Friday, Governor Sanders celebrated after White River Energetics announced that it would bring 100 more jobs to Arkansas after a $70,000,000 expansion.
With today’s investment, White River Energetics is bringing 100 jobs to Arkansas.
