Arkansas State University-Beebe invites the community to a free outdoor concert featuring Little Rock bluegrass band Runaway Planet on Thursday, Sept. 26, as part of the ASU-Beebe Lecture-Concert Series and Family Week festivities.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy a picnic from 5 to 6 p.m., with food and drinks provided by Great Western Dining. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in The Grove, behind the State Hall building on the Beebe campus.
The concert promises a toe-tapping good time with Runaway Planet’s signature blend of traditional and progressive bluegrass.
Formed in 2001, Runaway Planet draws inspiration from bluegrass legends such as Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, along with more contemporary influences like The Country Gentlemen and New Grass Revival. Known for their hard-driving bluegrass, three-part harmonies, and original songs, the band has won over audiences from seasoned bluegrass fans to those new to the genre.
The event is free and open to the public, thanks to the generous support of this year’s sponsors, Arkansas Radio, First Electric Cooperative and First Community Bank.
“We are thrilled to bring Runaway Planet to ASU-Beebe during Family Week as part of our Lecture-Concert Series,” said Andrea Cole, interim associate vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement and chair of the ASU-Beebe Lecture-Concert Series. “This is a wonderful opportunity for families and community members to come together for a fun evening of live music and great food.”
Mark your calendars and head to ASU-Beebe for a memorable evening of music and community! For more information, visit www.asub.edu.
