There’s not enough water in the river for a canoe race as previously planned.
The 2024 Saline River Canoe Race has reportedly been postponed until spring of next year. The water is reportedly not high enough for a race as previously planned. “Rain dances” didn’t work as organizers had hoped.
Canoe River Race Cancelled Over Low Water Concerns
The annual race had previously been planned for September 21st at Lyle Park in Benton, Arkansas.
The route for the canoe race was going to be from Peeler Bend to Lyle Park, which is approximately 4 miles.
Unfortunately, they had to scrap plans for the event.

“We prayed, we did rain dances but didn’t get the water we needed 😕 the Saline River Race has been postponed until the spring—we don’t have a date yet. If you were registered to race Benton Parks is sending out an email for next steps. In the meantime we’re going to get more sponsors and more prizes. See y’all in the spring 🙂”
