A groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of the renovation and expansion project for the North Little Rock Animal Shelter. Situated at 1 Championship Drive in Burns Park, the current shelter, built in 1961, is undergoing significant upgrades to better serve the community.
The renovation project adds 900 square feet to the existing building, featuring two entrances. One entrance will cater to shelter and animal control services, while the other will be designated solely for adoptions. Among the new additions will be a party room available for rent and smaller rooms for prospective pet owners to meet their potential new companions.
The improvements extend beyond structural changes, with plans for a new floor and fresh paint throughout the facility. Anticipated for completion in November, the project aims to create a more welcoming and functional environment for both animals and visitors alike.
